Eric Dignum
PhD Student (Sept 2019 - Present)
Eric, originally from the Netherlands, finsihed a bachelor and master in Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam, followed by a second master to teach Mathematics in high school. The aim of his PhD is to develop an Agent-Based-Model (ABM) to uncover the dynamics of school choice and resulting patterns of school segregation, as well as model potential policy disruptions.

Thomas van der Veen
Master Student (Jan 2019 - Present)
Thomas, originally from the Netherlands, has a bachelor in Beta-gamma from the University of Amsterdam and followed a programme in International Political Economy at Leiden University. Trying to merge the social and computational sciences, he’s now writing his thesis on school closure and school segregation for the master in Computational Science (University of Amsterdam).
Nigel van Herwijnen
Master Student (Sept 2019 - Present)
Nigel, originally from the Netherlands, finished a bachelor in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Amsterdam and assists in various courses of the minor Programming. Currently he is enrolled in the master Computational Science and writing his thesis on the influence of parental social networks on school choice.
Efi Athieniti
Master Student (Jan 2019 - Dec 2019)
Efi, originally from Cyprus, finished a master in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Imperial College London before entering the Computational Science Master at the University of Amsterdam. Besides finishing her thesis on residential patterns and school choice, she assisted in teaching System Dynamics and Agent-Based-Modelling both at the UvA.
Lu Yao Xu
Master Student (Feb 2020 - Present)
Lu Yao, originally from China studied Bioinformatics at Shandong University. She started as a Master Student of Computational Science at the University of Amsterdam in 2018. Currently she is writing her thesis on segregation within schools using data on social networks of children.
